Rehabilitative Role of TDC

TDC’s rehabilitative role was most visible in its diabetic foot, podiatry, orthotics, ophthalmology, nutrition, and patient education services. Through preventive screening, wound care, podiatry, customised orthotic support, and structured education, more than 17,000 patients were protected from diabetic foot ulcer progression, helping them maintain mobility, independence, and quality of life.

The Centre achieved a remarkable ~99% limb salvage rate, with an amputation rate of only 1.06%, significantly reducing the risk of long-term disability. An estimated 5,900 amputations among primary earners were averted, protecting families from loss of income, dependency, and household impoverishment.

TDC is helping restore sight through its cataract surgery services. With a dedicated eye operation theatre and the capacity to perform up to 50 cataract surgeries per month, the service has been supporting patients for the past 10 months, improving vision, independence, and quality of life.

Nutritional and metabolic rehabilitation was strengthened through 3,177 AI-based nutrition assessments, supporting personalised obesity and diabetes management. Collectively, these services positioned TDC not only as a treatment provider, but also as a disability-aversion, poverty-prevention, and life-preserving institution, restoring function, dignity, and economic stability for thousands of patients and families.
